It all started when one appeared photo on Weibo, showing its packaging Xiaomi 14 inside a large box that was full of devices, while a short while later a Screenshot of the system information was published which confirmed that Xiaomi will release its next flagship with the name Xiaomi 14 and not as Xiaomi 13 that we knew until today.
Understandably, this caused an impression among Weibo users in China, and speculation began as to why Xiaomi made this decision. This news at the same time began to spread on many well-known technology sites, forcing Xiaomi to take an official position against these rumors.
So, the company was forced to confirm the obvious: that is, all of them the photos and screenshots are fake, and that the company has no reason to change its name Xiaomi 13 to Xiaomi 14.
As the company representative states:
Unfortunately, however, various interpretations continue to spread, forcing me to intervene on this matter separately. We currently have no plans to change the product model name.

Xiaomi will launch in the coming weeks in China at least two devices that will belong to the Xiaomi 13 series – its basic version Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro it will feature premium specifications such as 6,7 inch OLED screen with a renewal rate of 120 Hz. It will come with a primary camera at 50MP (Sony IMX989), an ultrawide camera at 50MP and a telephoto camera at 50MP. The phone is also said to feature a front-facing Selfie camera at 32 MP. It will be powered by a battery at 5000mAh with fast charging support on 120w and wireless charging on 50w.
The Xiaomi 13 5G on the other hand, it will be a more compact flagship with 6,2 inch OLED screen with refresh rate support in 120 Hz. The phone is likely to pack a battery at 4500 mAh with fast charging support on 67 W. It is also likely to feature a triple camera setup in the 50MP at the rear.
Both devices are likely to launch in China on December of 2022, while the launch of the series in India and other markets worldwide may take place on 1st quarter of 2023.
Along with the announcement of the 13 Series Smartphones, Xiaomi at the same event is expected to announce its launch MIUI 14, the company's new version of Android Skin, and the Xiaomi 13 series will be among the first devices to run this Android 13-based OS.
