Σif a bomb exploded a few hours ago from Facebook the news that it was attacked by hackers with almost 50 million users being exposed by a security error and their personal data available in the wrong hands.
The company discovered the error last Tuesday where it immediately called the police and today further investigations began. The error appears to be related to the View As tool, which allows users to view their profile as it would appear to a third party. The hackers found many errors in this so that they could violate the Access tokens equivalent to digital keys that allow users to stay connected to Facebook so that they do not have to enter their password again.
The flaw has been fixed, wrote the head of security of the company, Guy Rosen, adding that all the accounts that were affected have been restored, as well as another 40 million "as a precautionary step".
It is recalled that the breach came at a time when the company is struggling to convince lawmakers in the US and other countries that it is able to protect users' data.
