A recent patent filed by Samsung with the USPTO (US Patent and Trademark Office) presents a rather bizarre picture of the upcoming Galaxy Note flagship.
ΦIt seems that Samsung is looking for ways to completely remove both the notches and holes for the cameras, but still allows Galaxy Note owners to take selfies.
The figures shown in the patent show that Samsung plans to make significant changes to the S Pen rather than the phone. Briefly, the patent describes a method comprising having a camera inside the S Pen, which will have at least one lens and one image sensor.
The camera built into the stylus is supposed to be controlled by an external button. Another button to be placed lower on the S Pen will allow users to adjust the zoom. According to PatentlyMobile, the patent states that the S Pen is intended for an upcoming Galaxy Note device, but does not specify which one.
Although the addition of a camera to the already multifunctional S Pen will further improve its usability, it is hard to believe that Samsung is willing to completely remove the Selfie camera from the next Galaxy Note series.
In fact, we do not believe at all that the camera on the S Pen is intended to replace the Galaxy Note camera on the front. For now, the only thing we can be sure of is that a future S Pen stylus could allow users to take pictures without having to use their Galaxy Note.
