New reduced prices of leased wholesale lines were approved today by the Plenary session of EETT, in the context of the 3rd cycle of the analysis of the specific markets for the definition, the analysis of the level of competition and the proposed regulatory obligations.
ΟThe prices of wholesale leased lines are reduced in the case of urban circuits up to 39% and long distance ones up to 30%. For the first time, prices are set for wholesale leased wireless circuits and high-capacity wired circuits.
Also, the retail offers of OTE - which maintains a position of Significant Power in the specific markets - are now subject to control, in order to avoid any profit margin squeeze. The new prices will be valid until the creation of an appropriate techno-economic model Bottom-up by EETT.
The completion of the process required 3 public consultations with the players of the Greek electronic communications market. Also, close cooperation of EETT with the competent ones followed European Commission Directorates-General, DG for Communications Networks, Content and Technology and DG for Competition, in order to address, with regulatory tools, problems in the operation of competition that had been identified in the Greek leased market. The prices were set in the context of taking temporary measures by EETT and the next step is their finalization, after conducting a national public consultation and relevant notification to the European Commission.
The framework for the application of the above prices is expected to contribute to the smooth operation of the market, strengthening competition and favoring investments, for the benefit of users.
