Clever send email and sms to citizens with an alleged sending bank, in order to steal citizens' data and withdraw money from bank accounts.
Η General Regional Police Directorate of Central Macedonia, on the occasion of cases of deception of citizens via electronic messages, informs the citizens about the method of electronic capture of personal data " Phishing ».
In particular, in the last 24 hours in Central Macedonia, 4 citizens were deceived via a similar e-mail ( Email ) which they allegedly received from a bank and deducted in total over 8.000 euro.
In these messages, the experts with various pretexts such as information update, account security, etc., urge the recipients to "click" on a link (link), which leads to a fake website that resembles those of banks.
Then they ask for the registration of personal data, bank card numbers and bank account codes (username and password), which the perpetrators steal as soon as they are completed by the citizens.
With the above method, they gain access to the citizens' bank accounts and immediately withdraw money.
Citizens who receive such messages are invited to:
- do not select the suggested links ( link ),
- do not reply to messages,
- do not register or send personal data and credit card details.
