COSMOTE and OTEGLOBE increase the capacity of backbone networks, to continue to support the uninterrupted broadband data movement inside and outside Greece, which is constantly increasing, mainly due to the development of technologies FTTH and 5G.
Η Network upgrade is achieved by increasing the communication speed between IP routers[1] in networks OTE and OTEGLOBEBy 100Gbps into a 400Gbps. This technology is used for the first time in Greece and will optimize the connectivity experience enjoyed by users.

In order for users to enjoy the best connectivity experience, the COSMOTE and OTEGLOBE have upgraded their existing network interface technology from 100Gbps to 400Gbps, quadrupling the communication speed over optical fiber.
Thanks to the new technology of multi-interface communication with speeds 400Gbps, seamless service of even larger volumes of data and abrupt and instantaneous increases in traffic are achieved (traffic bursts). Thus, the OTEGLOBE will be able to transfer telecommunications traffic to and from our country, through its international fiber optic network, total 21.000 kilometers long, with even greater security, reliability and speed.
Respectively, the COSMOTE will utilize it for backbone network interfaces in order to continue to best support the high speeds provided to customers through FTTH and 5G. In this way, customers COSMOTE will enjoy top communication speeds with increasing use Cloud services, HD Video Streaming, Video Conferencing, Social Media, IoT etc.. Alongside, COSMOTE and OTEGLOBE will reduce their environmental footprint, as this new technology transmits data at high speeds with significantly reduced energy consumption.
