COSMOTE Fiber: 150.000 lines of Fiber To The Home in 2019

With more than 150.000 households and businesses with access to 100% fiber optic home for guaranteed speeds Internet 100 & 200Mbps, through COSMOTE Fiber of the largest fiber optic network in Greece, closes in 2019.


Ο  OTE Group achieved the goal it had set for the expansion of the infrastructure Fiber To The Home (FTTH) within 2019 and remained first in population coverage, having installed over 75% of the total FTTH lines in the country.

The Chief Officer of Technology and Operations of OTE Group, Mr. Stefanos Theocharopoulos, stated in this regard: "At the beginning of the year we set a difficult goal: to offer guaranteed speeds of 100Mbps and 200Mbps through FTTH to 150.000 households and businesses within 2019. Despite the challenges, we did it and I want to say a big thumbs up to our technicians, but also to all people us in the Group who worked for it. Implementing our investment plan, amounting to € 2 billion by 2022, we will continue to bring the unlimited possibilities of fiber optics to even more areas of the country, offering our customers unique communication and entertainment experiences. With technology, we create a world better for all.»

In December 2019, areas in the cities of Karditsa, Katerini and Kavala, but also areas in Moschato, Nea Ionia, New Heraklion and St. Petersburg will have the opportunity for the first time to experience the unlimited possibilities of fiber optics up to the house, gaining access to guaranteed Internet speeds of 100 & 200Mbps and possibility of future upgrade to 1Gbps. In Attica, access to the Fiber To The Home of the OTE Group have homes and businesses in Agios Artemios, Ampelokipi, Vyronas, Galatsi, Ilioupoli, Kaisariani, Kifissia, Maroussi, Nea Erithraia, Nea Smyrni, Paleo Faliro, Papagos-Holargos, Patisia, Chalandri and Psychiko. In Northern Greece respectively, FTTH is available in new areas in the municipalities of Thessaloniki and Kalamaria, but also in Efkarpia, Panorama and Oreokastro. In the rest of Greece, Rethymno, Sparta and Chania have access to FTTH.

OTE Group: Fiber To The Home to over 300.000 households and businesses in 2020

OTE Group is the largest investor in new technologies and infrastructure in Greece. Thanks to its investments that reached € 2 billion in the last six years, it has the largest fiber optic network in Greece, COSMOTE Fiber1. Based on the four-year investment plan amounting to € 2 billion, OTE Group's goal is to make FTTH available to more than 300.000 households and businesses in 2020, reaching 1 million by 2022. The network will be covered with fiber optics and facilities of great social importance, such as universities, transport centers, industrial parks and public buildings.

Subsidizing FTTH connections

Those who wish to enjoy the unsurpassed speeds of fiber optics up to home, can receive a special grant of a total of € 360, through the Superfast Broadband action. The action is implemented with the voucher method, which subsidizes the fixed fee of the COSMOTE Double Play Fiberspeed program with € 13 / month, for a maximum period of 24 months and the one-time connection cost with € 48.
