Market research firm Canalys has published its quarterly report on the wearable Smart Band market in China for the third quarter of 2022
The new report shows that the Huawei continues to dominate the domestic market with 24% market share, however, the tech giant is faced with a a big drop of -27% on an annual basis.
Xiaomi is the second strong player in the smart wearable market with the release of the extremely popular models We Band, especially the revolutionary Band 2. Xiaomi lags behind Huawei with market share at 22%, achieving however a increase by 6% year-on-year, coming within touching distance of Huawei – just 2%.
In third place is a new entrant called XTC , which conquered the 10% of market share in China, while the US tech giant and global mobile device market leader Apple came in fourth place with market share at 9%. Interestingly, Apple's market share experienced a a whopping 53% increase compared to last year. This huge growth can be mainly due to new product launches for the quarter.
Finally, the OPPO completes the top 5 with a market share of 4%, representing an annual growth in 12%.
Η Canalys also published a ranking of the global wearable market for Smart Bands, which shows that they were shipped worldwide in the third quarter of 2022, in total 49 million smart wearables. This represents an annual increase of 3,4%.
Η Apple, leads the global mobile device market with a market share of 20%, followed by tSamsung, Xiaomi, Indian manufacturer Noise and Huawei. It's impressive to see Huawei making a presence in the global market, considering the US government's sanctions against the company.
