ISquare, the official distributor of Apple products in Greece and Cyprus, announced that the ECG (electrocardiogram) application is now available in our country.
Η ECG application (ECG app) makes it Apple Watch Series 4, the first wearable product that allows the user to perform an electrocardiogram in real time, directly from his wrist and record his heart rate, when he shows symptoms such as tachycardia or arrhythmia, helping to provide critical data to treating physicians. At the same time, the irregular heartbeat alert function on the Apple Watch occasionally monitors the pulse and may detect an irregular heartbeat that may indicate atrial fibrillation.
The new electrodes that are integrated in the rear crystal and the digital Crown of Apple Watch Series 4 operate simultaneously with the ECG application, to allow device owners to perform an electrocardiogram. An ECG is recorded at any time or after receiving an irregular heartbeat alert, by launching the new ECG application at Apple Watch Series 4 and holding down digital Crown.
As the user pushes the Digital Crown, the circuit is completed and the electrical signals of his heart are measured. After 30 seconds, the heart rate is classified as either AFib (atrial fibrillation), normal or fuzzy. All records, related classifications, and detected symptoms are stored securely in the iPhone's Health app. Users can share the results with their doctor via a simple PDF file.
In practice Health iPhone provides relevant information about these features, what results users can see, how to interpret these results, and instructions on what to do if they experience symptoms that require immediate medical attention. In order to activate the ECG application a functional is required Watch 5.2 or newer in Apple Watch Series 4 and iPhoneiOS 12.2 or newer.
