Apple: Recorded new revenue record for iPhones, with over 1 billion. active users

They exceeded all expectations Apple revenue, according to the financial results presented by the company on Wednesday.

ΟThe company's sales to move upwards in each of its areas of activity exceeding $ 100 billion in the first quarter of the year.

The results in the department were equally spectacular smartphones with the sales of iPhone to represent The 59% about revenue of company, in the quarter that included the predominantly enhanced shopping period of the holidays, which, however, was conducted with "turmoil", due to the local lockdown.

Despite the special conditions, the iPhone sales recorded an increase of 17% year on year touching the imposing amount of 65,6 billion dollars within a single quarter of $ 55,96 billion in the corresponding period of 2019. The increase is large if one considers that in the corresponding quarter of last year the annual growth of sales was 7,6% while even the estimates of analysts for the current period spoke of 59,53 billion dollars.

In fact, according to CEO Tim Cook in a video conference with analysts, the new iPhone models did not just make iOS fans put their hands in their pockets, they upgrade their devices - this quarter recorded the a larger percentage of customers who decided to upgrade their old iPhone - but also managed to gain new customers from consumers who until yesterday trusted Android devices.

Although the company does not provide detailed information about the shipments of its products, according to IDC estimates, the Cupertino Colossus sent 90,1 million telephones during that quarter. The number is the highest ever since IDC began monitoring the smartphone sector, according to Francisco Jeronimo, an IDC analyst. And all this despite the fact that the company's CEO, Tim Cook said that sales would be better if the coronavirus had not closed stores in various cities around the world.

Apple's very positive quarter is due in part to the four models in the new iPhone 12 series, which included design updates and the ability to connect to 5G networks.

For the rest, Apple recorded the highest revenue ever, reaching $ 111,4 billion in the first quarter, by $ 91,82 billion a year ago and well above analysts' estimates of $ 103,27 billion. The The company's total net profit stood at $ 28,76 billion or $ 1,68 per share, from $ 22,24 billion or $ 1,25 per share in the corresponding period of 2019. Analysts expected earnings of $ 1,42 per share.

Apart from the smartphone sector, of course, the company also benefited from the demand for products that meet the needs created by the pandemic, for example distance education or work. In this context the iPad sales climbed to $ 8,44 billion from $ 5,98 billion, while these Mac sales rose to $ 8,68 billion from $ 7,16 billion.

It should be noted that the company did not make any forecasts for the next quarter or for the whole year, reiterating that it avoids such estimates in the midst of a pandemic. However, according to Tim Cook during a conversation with analysts, the future is even brighter if one thinks that 5G coverage is high in very few countries in the world, with Europe currently embarking on the race for fifth-generation networks. "Given that all new models support 5G connectivity, 'I think most of this development is probably ahead of us,'" Cook said.
