The well-known market research company Counterpoint published a new report on the financial results of the third quarter of 2019, regarding the smartphone market.
ΣAccording to the report, this sector shows a general decline, while Apple had huge revenues from the sales of iPhones.
The data of the report
Counterpoint reports that in the third quarter of 2019 the smartphone market had revenue $ 12 billion. This amount translates to drop 11% compared to the corresponding period last year.
It seems that the reason for this decline is the reduced sales of high-end smartphones. Analysts say that 5G is gradually conquering the market and most consumers are waiting for the release of more affordable devices, which will replace the smartphones they already have.
Of the total profits presented by the global smartphone industry, the 66% belong to Apple. Second comes Samsung which owns it 17% of profits, and according to Counterpoint the rise of the company is due to the number of Galaxy As that were released and the Galaxy Note 10.
In addition, Counterpoint points out that due to the growing cycle of smartphone replacements, as well as the decline in prices made by Apple, Chinese competitors had smaller margins to increase their profits.
Chinese smartphone makers have always operated with reduced profit margins. However, they have started to increase their profit margins, always compared to previous years.
Finally, analysts believe that Apple will be able to ensure the steady increase in revenue that it wants and needs, as long as it maintains the new strategy it has adopted.
