We live at home: These are the 10 rules of use so that the Internet does not "fall" in our country

The Ministry of Digital Governance, and in particular the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, issued one "Guide" of 10 rules for the recommended use of the services.

Ο10 rules from the Ministry of Digital Government that we take into account during the pandemic coronavirus, in order not to create communication problems due to the burden of the networks.

The widespread use of internet services - which are used not only for entertainment or communication purposes but also by those who have turned to teleworking - is said to have been caused by the new pandemic coronavirus.

Adherence to certain simple rules for the responsible and rational use of telecommunications networks allows all those who "stay home" to enjoy the relevant services they offer.

In this context, the Ministry of Digital Government, and in particular the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, issued a "guide" of 10 rules for the recommended use of services.

Specifically:

  1. We avoid, as much as possible, the use of online entertainment services during peak hours, ie from the 09:00 in the morning until 6:00 afternoon. In this way we create the necessary "space" so that telecommunications networks are able to serve even the most demanding needs of communication applications and teamwork and distance learning, which are so important for a large number of our fellow citizens and businesses and in finally, critical to the functioning of the whole economy.
  2. If we are going to make a phone call, we prefer fixed networks instead of mobile ones. In this way we avoid creating excessive traffic in the mobile telephony infrastructure.
  3. We avoid sending large files and if this is not possible, we exhaust all efforts to compress them, if this is technically possible.
  4. We avoid sending bulk emails from our computer as much as possible.
  5. We avoid unnecessary video calls, both during peak hours and in the afternoon and evening non-peak hours.
  6. We take advantage of the online platforms of teamwork with our colleagues and we do not use only the classic video applications
  7. We download to the computer only the files we need. If we want to share with others a file we found on the internet, we send them the link and not the file itself.
  8. We keep our electronic devices up to date with the latest versions of their software, following the instructions of the manufacturers. We also keep the programs we use up to date to protect devices from malware.
  9. If we have children, we take care of their creative employment and avoid as much as possible their attachment exclusively to video streaming platforms and social networks.
  10. We adopt responsible behavior on the internet. We consult the instructions of the National Organization of Public Health (www.eody.gr) for the treatment of the coronavirus and we do not reproduce information and material that lack scientific documentation
