We are very close to the release of the next smartphones that will integrate fingerprint recognition via screen (UD Fingerprint scanner) and the CEO of Xiaomi is giving us a demonstration.
Η Xiaomi is mostly shaking the market with low prices and aggressive marketing, but the company is also keeping pace with its competitors in technology and innovation. Although it was not the first company to introduce a Notch or cutout waterdrop or a UHD screen or dual cameras, Xiaomi now aims to change that.
Lin Bin, president and co-founder of Xiaomi, posted a video for Weibo showcasing a prototype Smartphone (apparently a Mi-8) that uses the next-generation fingerprint scanner below the screen. You can use just one finger, and then unlock the lock screen by tapping almost anywhere.
According to Lin Bin, the unlock area is 50 mm to 25 mm, which is now more than five times that of the classic UD area, and more than 15 times the normal scanner on the back, used by Xiaomi. And not only is it large in area - but at the same time it is fast and reliable, at least according to the video. We still see someone unlock the phone without even looking at the screen.
While the technology looks great and is clearly tested on the Xiaomi Mi, Bin says if this new innovation is well received by Xiaomi fans, the company will consider putting the scanner on future devices. By then we will have the smartphone Vivo APEX to provide us with this technology.
