Redmi Note 6 Pro: appeared on Geekbench with Snapdragon 636 chipset & 4GB RAM

ΤThe Redmi Note 5 Pro has been a huge success in a very short time, and is currently one of Xiaomi's most popular devices. It has been almost seven months since the release of the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the demand for this phone is still growing.

Meanwhile, it seems that Xiaomi has already started working on the successor to the RedMi Note 5, known as the Redmi Note 6 Pro. The company, however, has not yet officially confirmed the device. The supposed Redmi Note 6 Pro appeared on Geekbench, and the reference list has revealed some of the features of the phone.

Considering the previous rumors that were released from time to time, but also the registration of the device in Geekbench, we can now say with confidence that the Redmi Note 6 Pro will have an excellent design, with a larger screen and improved camera compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. However, the hardware in the Note 6 Pro is expected to be the same as the previous Redmi Note 5 Pro, which may somewhat disappoint us.

The entry in Geekbench is in line with previous rumors. The list reveals that the Redmi Note 6 Pro will be powered by the same chipset as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. This means that the phone will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 636 processor, which is also in the Note 5 Pro. The Geekbench list also reveals that the Redmi 6 Pro will come in 4GB RAM, and other RAM options may be available. Last week, a rumor mentioned 3GB of RAM / 32GB of storage for the Redmi Note 6 Pro.

The list also shows that the Redmi Note 6 Pro will run Miui based on Android 8.1 (Oreo). Considering that the Redmi Note 5 Pro started with Android 7.1 Nougat, and months later it was upgraded to Android Oreo, we can expect the same to happen with the Redmi Note 6 Pro. The Note 6 Pro can start with Android Oreo, and upgrade to Android 9 Pie after a few months.

According to the performance test at Geekbench, the Redmi Note 6 Pro manages to score 1332 units in single-core, and 4675 units in multi-core, a result which is more or less similar to the performance of the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Although rumors claim that the Redmi Note 6 Pro will come with the Snapdragon 636, we expect it to have better overall hardware, to be a true successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

As for the other specifications of the device, the reports suggest that the Redmi Note 6 Pro can have a 6,26 inch Full HD + AMOLED screen, with a 19: 9 aspect ratio and a notch on the top. The phone is designed with a metal body, and will have the fingerprint sensor mounted on the back. Scattered live images of the device that appeared on Reddit reveal a dual Selfie camera installation, with a 20MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. As for the rear camera sensor, reports suggest that the upcoming phone will host a 12MP primary lens and a 5MP secondary lens, with a pixel size of 1,4μm and autofocus. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is expected to have a 4.000mAh battery.
