Xiaomi has launched a new security camera in China which is officially called Xiaomi Smart Camera 3 PTZ
As the name suggests, the device supports pan, tilt and zoom functions, but the most important thing is that this is the first smart security camera from Xiaomi that it has sensor at 5MP and supports resolution up to 3K.
The product is available in China at a price of 249 Yuan, that is, about $ 35 / € 32 and is already available for sale. There is no official announcement from the company regarding the global availability of the device yet.
Η Xiaomi Smart Camera 3 PTZ powered by Mijia MJA1 security chip with encryption support. It has a horizontal viewing angle of 360° and vertical viewing angle at 109°.
The sensor at 5MP allows you to download video with image quality at 3K (2960 x 1666 pixels) and is accompanied by 8 UV LEDs for clearer night vision.
The camera can detect people using AI algorithms and is even able to follow them, and while the processing for this feature happens locally on the device, the facial recognition feature requires a connection to the cloud.
Users can share the device with their family members, and up to three people can access the camera at the same time.
There is support for two-way audio, and the camera can record human voices from a distance of up to 8 measures, which is an upgrade over the 5 meters that the previous models have.
The device supports it Dual zone WiFi and can record video with H.265 encoding to consume less storage space. He supports her MicroSD card to expand the internal storage up to 512GB and users also have the option to save videos to Cloud or to someone local NAS.
Last but not least, like every other Xiaomi smart home product, the new Smart Camera 3 PTZ uses its platform Mijia, but when the device hopefully becomes available in global markets, it should also be compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa of Amazon.
