Η Black Shark by Xiaomi unveiled the Black Shark 5 series in China the past March, and will now launch worldwide next month, starting with Malaysia
Η series which includes three smartphones Black Shark 5, Black Shark 5 Pro and Black Shark RS is currently only available in China, but from next month the series will be released in other markets worldwide, making its debut in Malaysia.
Specifically, the Malaysian part of it Black Shark announced on social media the release of Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro in Malaysia on 8 June. This event will start on 19:00 local time and will be broadcast live on the company's accounts at Facebook and TikTok.
The Black Shark 5RS will not be present at this event which will take place on 8 June, and it is not clear if the company will bring it to Malaysia later or if only these two models will be available in the Asian country.

Black Shark 5 Pro
The Black Shark 5 Pro is the top model of the new series and is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The SoC and the appliance as a whole are kept cool by a large cooling system consisting of two steam chambers (VC), one on each side of the phone, covering the whole 4.323 mm² + 997 mm² from the area of the device.
The SoC is combined with up to 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage, but there is more to it than that.
Storage is evenly distributed between two different storage media, ie through a NVMe SSDs and the usual UFS 3.1 (that is 256 + 256 GB in the model of 512 GB). Using the so-called technology DM Cache, the Black Shark managed to significantly improve performance at random read and write speeds (random read and write). Also, fast RAM is type L (in 6.400 Mbps), and can be used to create virtual RAM disk for cases where additional faster storage is required.
The phone is powered by a high performance battery that has a capacity of 4.650 mAh and supports the fast charge at 120 W. According to the company, charging from 0 - 100% can be achieved in just 15 minutes, but there is also a special temperature control function, which slows down the charging of the battery to protect it from overheating, slowing down the total charge from 15 to 24 minutes.
At the same time, when playing games, the phone has its option battery bypass when the charger is connected to the device.
The Black Shark 5 Pro is equipped with one 6,67 inch AMOLED screen with panels in 10 bit, which supports the HDR10 + and the color range DCI-P3. There are two ambient light sensors (one on the front and one on the back of the device), so that the brightness can be adjusted automatically to perfectly match the lighting conditions in the room.
This screen has refresh rate up to 144 Hz and touch sampling rate at 720 Hz, while of course it also supports simultaneous touch for multiple fingers. In addition, there is a special magnetic shoulder button (magnetic shoulder button) that pops up on the side of the phone and uses a microswitch for gaming.
The phone has two symmetrical speakers with volume air cavities at 1,5 cc, and based on the evaluation of the device in the field of audio by DxOMark, The Black Shark 5 Pro is currently the top phone in the ranking gathering 86 pointss in the standings, surpassing its predecessors by 5 points.
The device is also equipped with an X-axis linear motor, which offers better tactile feedback. It also has overall four microphones, which are placed on each of the four sides of the phone, so that the device can always receive your voice clearly.
On the back of the device and on the large enough vertical Module, are placed the three cameras that consist of a main camera with sensor at 108 MP 1 / 1,52 ″, plus an extremely wide angle camera at 13 MP (angle 120 °) and one Tele Macro lens with sensor in 5 MP which has a minimum focusing distance on 3-7 cm.
Black Shark 5
This is the cheapest - basic version of the series, and is equipped with it 870 Snapdragon SoC, in combination with the two steam chambers for cooling. But in this version there is no SSD, only LPDDR5 RAM (8/12GB) and storage UFS 3.1 (128/256 GB).
The phone uses the same AMOLED screen 6,67 ” with the rest of the devices in the series, but with a refresh rate at 144 Hz and touch sampling rate at 144 Hz and continues to have the magnetic shoulder button for toys.
In terms of cameras, the device has exactly the same cameras on the back that we saw in the RS version (64 + 13 + 5 MP), while for the front Selfie camera we have a sensor on 20 MP.
The battery is identical to that of the Pro - capacity version in 4.650 mAh, which supports both fast charging on 120W, but both charging options in 15 and 24 minutes. The device also supports battery bypass which we also saw in the Black Shark 5 Pro, when the device is connected to the charger while playing games.
We do not yet have any information on the prices and availability of the devices in Europe.
