In a short post made by Xiaomi on Weibo, revealed to us a new battery technology on which the company's Research and Development team is working, which will be available from next year.
Σaccording to what the Xiaomi, was able to increase the silicon content in the battery by approximately 3 times, resulting in having increase in battery capacity without changing its size.
At the same size, the new battery can fit approximately 10% more mAh and provide up to 100 minutes extra running time with a single charge. Also used is the new packaging technology called Pack, which improves the space occupied by the battery in the devices. The special PCM protection circuit (protection circuit unit) is now tilted 90 degrees and is not flat, saving even more space.
Furthermore, the Xiaomi equip the new battery with a special chip to measure the level of charge based on advanced algorithms, which further improve the safety and life of the battery cells, as well as monitor the charge at night. This mitigates the risk of overcharging when the Smartphone is connected to the charger for a very long time.
It is also possible to control the temperature in the battery using additional sensors, and as we all know, in batteries Li-Ion it is not good to have high temperatures. However, we do not know exactly how Xioami will be able to effectively control battery temperatures.
Mass production for the first batteries of this kind will begin around second half of next year.
