H Xiaomi has registered a new one Diploma of Patent for a new technology, which extends the fingerprint recognition area to the entire screen.

Το interest of Xiaomi to troubleshoot fingerprint unlock issues is now known. The company, like many other companies, is trying to improve the unlocking of its smartphones, to make it not only faster, but also more secure.

According with sources from China , the latest idea presented by Lei Jun is really interesting. A new patent has been unveiled that offers the ability to unlock a Smartphone via sensors to be located below the entire screen . This means that the area for unlocking the smartphone extends almost the entire screen, and will not be limited to just a small point.

Fingerprint sensors below the screen are becoming more and more popular on smartphones, but there is a big limitation:  will you need to place your finger just below a specific part of the screen so that your fingerprints can be scanned.

So now, the Xiaomi has patented a new patent for a technology that can eliminate this restriction . It's a patent that speaks for itself extension of the identification area of full screen fingerprints.

The document submitted states that this technology uses a number of infrared LED transmitters under the AMOLED panel of the display . In this case, the light receivers are located above the infrared transmitters, and together form part of the fingerprint sensor reader.

But how to read fingerprints on a smartphone?

The capacitive sensor (capacitive sensor) of the screen will indicate exactly where the finger is located, and then an LED located near this point will emit infrared light below the screen, which will be reflected to the light receivers, and will send the collected data to compare with the stored fingerprint data specified by the device user.

In this way, new technology can convert specific parts of the screen into fingerprint readers , eliminating the need to touch a specific part of the screen to read fingerprints.

It should be noted at this point that this technology was already proposed by Huawei some time ago, but still has not been used on any device. Xiaomi is now aiming to improve its fingerprint unlock experience, but it is not yet known when we will see it apply to some of its devices.

Let's not forget that at the moment just one more patent filed by Xiaomi, and as we can imagine, the implementation costs of this patent is expected to be very high .
