Xiaomi : Officially confirms the integration of Google Photos in MIUI Gallery

A few days ago, Xiaomi announced that the MIUI Gallery app will stop syncing photos and videos to Mi Cloud, and today the company issued a relevant press release


As Xiaomi announces in the press release it published, the MIUI Gallery app will be enriched soon with support for Google Photos and Google's service will be integrated directly into Xiaomi's app.

Therefore, Xiaomi is dropping support for the photo and video sync function present in the Gallery of MIUI through the service XiaomiCloud. However, the company will certainly not leave all MIUI users without an alternative, favoring the switch to Google Photos.

The transition to the service Mountain View will be done by consolidating in Google Cloud, and then the Gallery application present in MIUI, will be able to directly sync the photos and videos you have on your Xiaomi devices in Google Photos.

The reference to the Google Cloud service will be clearly visible inside the MIUI Gallery app, and once you have signed in with your Google account and provided all the necessary permissions required, the sync will be able to begin and complete. In this way, the photos and videos which have been created with the smartphone Xiaomi they will be in the Gallery but also in the Photos (saved through the Google cloud ).

This new feature will start rolling out to existing Xiaomi devices starting in Singapore on 24 October, through an update to MIUI's Gallery app, and later these changes will be rolled out to all other markets.

Google offers free 15 GB of storage space, but you will be able to extend this space by purchasing a Google One subscription, while for those who have already purchased a valid Xiaomi Cloud subscription, both the space and the duration of the subscription they purchased from Xiaomi will are also available at Google One.
