Xiaomi bleeding continues along with other manufacturers in the European smartphone market, according to her report Counterpoint Research

Σaccording to the report published by Counterpoint Research, the European smartphone market is plagued by a huge drop that is reaching -12% in the first quarter of 1.

The shortage of semiconductors in China and the bad global conditions because of it COVID-19 and the war between Ukraine and Russia, are some of the reasons that led to this huge fall.

Except for Xiaomi which recorded one huge drop of -36% in its sales, other manufacturers of Smartphones fell sharply, while Samsung continues to maintain its leading position since the first quarter of 1. New data show that this decline in the European market is the largest since 2020.

Xiaomi faces the biggest drop from year to year (-36%)

Xiaomi is facing a huge drop in sales but is not directly responsible, as the lack of semiconductors, deteriorating economic conditions due to the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, the unstable geopolitical environment and the great energy crisis are the main causes of this crisis facing the European market as a whole. In her report Counterpoint, it is reported that Europe will experience an even greater recession in the future and things will become even more difficult for all Smartphone manufacturers.

According to the data of the report presented by CounterpointThe Samsung maintains its position at the top in the first quarter of 2022 and continued to hold the largest share of smartphone shipments with 35%. The Apple, holds the second place in the European market with a share of shipments in 25%.

Η Xiaomi is classified in 3nd place in Europe but faces a drop by -5% in its market share, after falling from 19% to 14%, while on an annual basis (from year to year) things are even more tragic, since it happened decrease in sales by -36%. Note that these results include all sales made by both herself and her subsidiaries such as Redmi and POCO.

Η OPPO and Realme occupied the 4th and 5th place in the European market with a market share 6% and 4%, respectively. The Realme is the only Smartphone manufacturer that records an increase in shipments in the first quarter of 1.

According to researchers, the war between Russia-Ukraine has a major impact on these negative effects, and also the COVID-19-related semiconductor crisis, as well as the major energy crisis plaguing Europe, are the factors that have played an important role.

The situation is expected to worsen further before it improves, with many countries in Europe dangerously close to recession, and the Russo-Ukrainian war unlikely to end any time soon.
