Η Xiaomi announced yesterday that it will unveil the Civil 2 at 27 Σεπτεμβρίου in an event in China that will start at 14:00 local China time.
Yesterday the company showed us the back of the smartphone, which features a triple camera setup with the main camera being at 50MP. Today, Xiaomi revealed to us some more details about the Civi 2 main camera, while also showing us the front of the smartphone.
The Xiaomi Mi 2 it will feature a display with a pill-shaped notch in the center, under which the two front Selfie cameras will be housed (32MP Wide and 32MP Ultrawide). This arrangement with the dual Selfie cameras may remind many of it Dynamic Islands of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max announced recently, but we don't know if Xiaomi will introduce a similar feature to Apple's Dynamic Island in the upcoming Civi 2.
However, it is worth noting that the Civil 2 it's not the first Android smartphone to feature a pill-shaped notch for selfie cameras. We've seen a few Android smartphones come with pill-shaped notches in the past, including this one Realme X50 Pro, just those Notches were not centered.
Xiaomi revealed today that the main camera of the Civi 2 will use the sensor IMX766 at 50MP from Sony which we have already seen on the Xiaomi 12, but the aperture at Civil 2 will be f / 1.8 instead f / 1.9.
As Xiaomi claims compared to its predecessor, the amount of light received by the Civi 2's main camera has increased by 101,8% and the photo capture speed has increased by 144%. The night photography speed sounds like it's even more impressive, as there we have an increase of 246%.
Xiaomi also revealed that the Civi 2 supports the Bionic Eyes Atmospheric Portrait, but did not reveal anything about the specifications of this technology or function.
In one of the posters shared by Xiaomi today, it reveals that the Civi 2 will come with support for Dolby Atmos and that the central pill-shaped hole for the Selfie camera will be flanked by two small flash units which will be placed on the right and left of the top panel, to help users take brighter selfies in low-light conditions.
The Xiaomi Mi 2 is rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC. It is certain that in the next five days left for the launch of the device, the company will gradually reveal to us more information about its specifications.
The bad thing is that the device (like the Citizens 1S), is not expected to escape the Chinese market, unless Xiaomi has changed its mind and gives us some last-minute surprise.
