65 thousand new WIND Fiber lines are changing data faster than ever
Μwith speeds up to 200mbps are now running three new areas in Attica. Residents and businesses of the municipalities of Kallithea, Nikaia and Korydallos have the opportunity to enjoy high speeds as the local installation of the privately owned fiber optic network of WIND.
WIND's next-generation fiber-optic network infrastructure in the new coverage areas utilizes a variety of technologies for high-speed Internet access, including in-flight (FTTC) and home-to-end (FTTH) implementations. In total, the lines covered by the WIND fiber optic network in Nikaia, Korydallos and Kallithea are 65.000.
"I have said many times that the future of cities, if we want to call them and be truly 'modern', lies in new technologies and, of course, they must now have the necessary infrastructure for fast Internet and excellent quality communications." stated characteristically the Mayor of Nikaia - Ag. I. Renti, George Ioakeimidis. "It is our obligation to provide all citizens, without delays or restrictions, with the opportunity to access the most modern technology that can offer at any time. The installation of a new fiber optic network throughout the city is the absolutely necessary infrastructure and the condition that opens new horizons in communication, commercial and business activity and is a factor that can contribute to stimulating the local economy ".
Now users of Kallithea, Nikaia and Korydallos can easily and mainly quickly watch their favorite movie in video streaming in the best quality and without "breaks", enter the battlefield of online games and chat with their teammates at the same time and without "sticking", as well as upload videos and photos on social media even faster.
In a statement, the Mayor of Korydallos Stavros Kasimatis reported on: "The completion of the project of installation of a fiber optic network in the Municipality of Korydallos and the provision of high speed Internet is an important step for the modernization of the services provided in the city. The new modern infrastructures allow the most efficient access to the e-services of the Municipality, of the public sector, of the health, of the education, as well as the interconnection of the enterprises and the citizens, with the aim of the overall upgrade of Korydallos and the stimulation of the local economy. I believe that the excellent cooperation between the Municipality and WIND, both during the project and afterwards, only has benefits for the local community and the upgrading of citizens' lives ".
WIND estimates that it will complete 50% of the coverage with fiber optic services in the areas that have been granted to it by the end of 2018. The construction of the proprietary fiber optic network is progressing satisfactorily according to the plan despite the significant delays in the network power supply and already more than 103.000 lines NGAare enabled.
