As part of the mobile network upgrade, the WIND and Q at June 10 2022 announced its launch gradual abolition of the 3G network throughout Greece
The above abolition is planned to be continued by November of 2022 and is expected to be completed by the end March 2023. The spectrum released by the abolition of the 3G network will be used for the further development and expansion of new generation networks 4G / 4G + and 5G, with the aim of providing higher speeds, faster network response and generally better mobile internet experience to mobile and prepaid contract customers Wind, Wind F2G & Q.
The 3G network shutdown is scheduled to complete according to the table below:

In the context of the deactivation of 3G in the above areas, the efficiency of the said service may also be affected in their neighboring areas for reasons of system interaction.
Internet access via the mobile network will now be available only from devices that support the network 4G / 4G + or 5G with technology cards U-SIM. The subscribers Wind & Q who use an old technology SIM card, can replace it immediately and free of charge at all Wind stores. At the same points, they will also be able to check if their device only supports 3G services and, if they wish, replace it by choosing from a wide range of devices 4G / 4G + and 5G.
It is clarified that the 2G network (with voice, text and data services) will continue to be offered, so that subscribers who have devices that only support 2G services will not be affected by this modification.
The subscribers Contract and Prepaid Wind, Wind F2G & Q who are using an old technology device that only supports 3G services and are affected by the removal of the 3G network, have right to terminate their contract free of charge, within two (2) months from the date of application of the abolition of 3G (excluding any balances of device or terminal equipment subsidy or any other subsidy / discount or offer in accordance with the pre-amended terms of the subscribers' contract).
