Ο 5th Panhellenic Generation Next Competition of the Foundation Vodafone was completed, attracting, once again, the interest of hundreds of secondary school students from end to end throughout Greece

Τthe first place was won by the team ex-almyrou II, from Almyros General High School, which designed an advanced forest protection station.

The students Apostolis Drolias, Giorgos Kalogiros and Alexandros Tsampiras, on the occasion of the fires that occurred last year in its area Mangesias, they realized that the early detection of a fire can prove to be a lifesaver for any forest and – under the guidance of their professor Dimitriou Mamoura – they leveraged technology Arduino and designed the station.

For us it was very important to protect the Kouri forest, a rare oak forest of our region, which on the one hand is the lung of our city and is a worthy sight and on the other hand is quite vulnerable to fires. Our ultimate goal is to create a network of stations, with the support of the Municipality and the Fire Department., the team said ex-almyrou II.

The team was in second place Kalamata team 2, which combining the Arduino technology and App Development, designed a vehicle to facilitate the movement of people with mobility problems. The students Kyriakos Karabellas, Ioanna Malama, Melina Polychronaki and Triantafyllis Theodorou, from 7th Experimental High School of Kalamata, under the supervision of their teacher Alexandrou Karavlidis, created the "Drive me", a modular vehicle that works with the help of an app.

Inspired by Rove robotic vehicler, which explores Mars and the Moon, we aim to offer greater autonomy to people with mobility problems, helping them to participate equally in the social life of our city., says Kalamata team 2.

The difficulties in moving the residents of Chania due to the pandemic attracted the group's interest STEM freaks, who conquered her Third Place In the competition. The students Giorgos Daskalakis, Roberto Sterling-Zakynthinakis and Alexandra Fundoulakthe from 6th High School of Chania, taking into account the reduced occupancy that has been imposed on Mass Transportation, created the "Bus Passenger Counter».

The pandemic has caused difficulties and delays in the way we move and for this the creation of the Buss Passenger Center gives citizens useful information for a safe and less time-consuming movement., she said STEM freaks.
