Ο Wanghua, Xiaomi's head of public relations, revealed on Weibo, that the second construction phase of Xiaomi's new smart factory was recently completed
Αthis new smart factory is basically one Ai Smartphone automatic production area with few workers, which had been baptized as "Black Lamp Factory» by the President of the company, Lei Jun. It will use a fully automatic production line inside and will not require workers or lighting as the name given to it by Jun – i.e. “black light factory».
According to the reports, after the completion of the second phase of its construction Xiaomi Black Lamp Factory, the factory will have the capacity to produce tens of millions of high-tech smartphones with an annual production value of 50-60 billion yuan, that is, approximately at 8 billions of euros.
The new factory is located in Changping Park International Information Industry BaseAt Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, and covers an area of approx 5,8 hectares, with a total building area of 141.000 square meters, with a total investment reaching approximately 886 million yuan (~ 130 million). The construction work of the factory started on 14 July 2021.
Xiaomi plans to complete its construction and put the first Smartphone production line into operation by June of 2023, while all other production lines should be completed by end of 2023.
When asked why Xiaomi built this "smart" factory, the CEO of the company, Lei Jun, has stated in the past that there are three reasons:
- Xiaomi will have a fully automated factory
- It is necessary for the company to have an extremely large and modern research laboratory
- It will help the company to develop and manufacture many new devices and not just Smartphones
