In the "fever" of Black Friday: In the "hunt" of opportunity thousands of Greeks - Beware of traps

Black Friday: "Ready for war" are today thousands of Greeks, but also the shops, in order to welcome the consumer public looking for the opportunity!

Young and old flock to the stores, which have been promoting big discounts on their products for days.

Although the "intermediate discounts" were in force until the middle of the month, the interest remains undiminished.

Consumer interest is initially stimulated by the Internet. Almost all physical stores have websites, where they promote their low prices, while there are thousands of offers that have flooded our emails.

However, there are entrepreneurs and companies that will take advantage of the opportunity and sell the product at the same price as before, describing it as a! Offer!

These are the prices of 870 items before Black Friday

The Ministry of Finance conducted a market research on about 870 items, on the occasion of Black Friday in order to avoid misleading phenomena and to help consumers in their planning.

The Price Observatory Department of the General Secretariat for Trade and Consumer Protection conducted a price survey on a sample of technology products. The prices were obtained through an on-site survey of electronics stores in Athens but also through the sending of price data by the marketing companies themselves.

These prices are those that were valid on Friday 16/11/2018 and relate to approximately 870 types of mobile phones, smart TVs, tablets and laptops.

For his part, the president of the Athens Chamber of CommerceStavros Kafounis, He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was not the answer.

"The real problem facing the market today is the lack of disposable income by households and if this is not reversed immediately, consumers and businesses will continue to face daily survival problems," according to the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce.

Promotions such as "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday", given their huge visibility by the major retailers, will be followed by smaller businesses to receive a share of any increase. of sales they so desperately need. We hope that these actions will stimulate the market and be days of joy for traders and consumers and not another anemic extended period of discounts ", concludes Mr. Kafounis.

A tradition that lasts for years in the USA

In Greece, Black Friday may be only four years old, but, first in the USA and then in many countries around the world, the day of big offers has been "celebrated" for decades.

Black Friday always takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving and marks the beginning of the festive season ahead of Christmas.

But why is this "celebration" labeled "black"?

There are many versions available, with the following being the most popular: first, because it is a day when companies from the "red", ie from losses, have profits due to high sales.

According to another version, this term was first used by traffic wardens in Philadelphia, USA, to describe the horrible traffic on the streets that day due to the discounts and the start of the Christmas season.
