Η Microsoft and Qualcomm are working together to develop Windows 10 laptops based on ARM processors. The Always Connected PC is similar to the Intel 2-in-1 laptop, with the main difference being the combination of Windows 10 and Qualcomm. Recent leaks show that the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8180 (SCX8180) processor, also known as the Snapdragon 1000 (SDM1000), codenamed Poipu, has 8,5 billion transistors, using a 7nm production process in processor size 20 x 15 mm!
Unlike traditional laptops, one powered by ARM has a long battery life. First-generation devices have received poor reviews due to poor performance - Qualcomm insists it has solved these problems in its processors. Of course performance remains a big issue and our personal view is computers with mobile phone processors, they only do for media consuming and browsing and not for Photoshop as the company says or other heavy work. As most of us do this at home, Always Connected computers with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8180 have a future in home use.
