Despite the very difficult global economic environment, which has seriously affected smartphone sales, on the contrary smartwatch sales continue to grow

Όas reported by Counterpoint Research in her report, there is one steady annual growth at 13%  in smartwatch sales in the second quarter of 2022, while the smartphone market declined 9% during the same period.

According to her new report CounterpointThe North America continues to lead in the total volume of shipments by region, however, at the same time noted down about 4% year over year, and North America's share of the global smartwatch market also declined from 31% during the second quarter of 2021 at 26% the last quarter.

However, North America is not the only market in decline. THE China and Europe also recorded a double-digit drop in shipments in the second quarter of 2022, with 10% and 13%  respectively. The ongoing lockdowns for COVID-19 with corresponding problems in supply chains was the main reason for the decline in sales in China, while the war between Russia and Ukraine was the main culprit in the decline of the market in Europe, as a result of which these two major markets slipped into third and fourth place respectively.

However, on the contrary, India surpassed both China and Europe in Smartwatch sales, ranking it at second place. The market in India recorded a an amazing 347% increase  in smartwatch sales in the second quarter of this year. India's global market share now stands at 22%, from 6% which was at the same time last year. THE Counterpoint emphasizes that in India he sees a huge consumer attraction to wrist wearables developing, with the cheap products that have price under $50 to be extremely popular in the country, accounting for approx 30% of all sales between the period April to June 2022.

Local companies increase smartwatch sales in India in Q2022 XNUMX

As the Counterpoint, the massive growth in smartwatch sales in India is mainly due to the many local companies operating in the country, with Fire Bolt to be at the top of the market, outperforming it Noise. The Noise fell to second place in India despite an increase in sales by 298% which he did during this period. These two Indian companies grew so much during the second quarter of 2022 that they entered the top five of the global map. THE Fire Bolt  ranks fourth in the global market by share 6,3%, followed by Noise on the fifth with a share 5,9%.

Η Apple, still isi the world leader in smart watches, sending approx 8% more units in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year. But Apple's market share declined marginally year-over-year from 30,6% to 29,3%. The Samsung was the biggest beneficiary among the leading brands. Samsung was extremely popular in premium class in India and North America, thanks to the series of Galaxy Watch 4. The sales of the Korean company increased by 40% worldwide, taking second place behind the Apple, with market share at 9,2%.

Η  Huawei dropped to third place, but continues to lead the domestic market in China, while compatriot Xiaomi also increased its shipments by 13% year-over-year in the second quarter of 2022, but its share of the global market remained largely about the same. THE Garmin and Amazfit complete the top eight of the most popular smartwatch brands from April to June 2022.
