Τ2018 proves to be a very important year for toy sales so far, reaching total revenues of $ 19,5 billion in the US, an amount 40% higher than in the first half of 2017.
The numbers were made known by the NPD Group (via GamesIndustry), which speaks of an increase in sales in the hardware sector, reaching $ 1,7 billion, which is mainly due to the new markets that have expanded Sony and Microsoft, along with assistants from Nintendo NES-Classic and NES Classic.
The sales of DLC and microtransactions are in the same trend, with the increase of the specific category reaching 43%.
Also, the sales of accessories recorded a very good performance, exceeding the bar of growth of 40% in this sector as well. Reaching for 41% accuracy.
Finally, the Fortnite and Battle Royale genre in general makes its presence felt in the sales of headsets / headphones, which have doubled.
NPD analysts seem optimistic about the continuation of this "trend", as the remaining months of 2018 reserve even stronger releases.
