Η Samsung announced in China, the new camera sensor ISOCELL HPX at 200MP, about four months after the sensor was released ISOCELL HP3 at 200MP, which became available last June

The new sensor ISOCELL HPX he's got pixel size at 0,56 micron, reducing the camera's Module size by 20%, making the smartphone body thinner.

In addition, Samsung used the technology Advanced DTI (Deep Trench Isolation), which not only separates each pixel individually, but also increases the sensitivity of the sensor to capture sharper and more vivid photos and videos. Furthermore, the Super QPD autofocus which it has, provides an extremely fast and accurate focus, eliminating blur in photos.

Tetra-Pixel technology in the ISOCELL HPX sensor

Samsung's new camera sensor makes use of the technology Tetra pixel (16 pixels in one) which helps to capture more light, which is especially useful in low light conditions.

With the help of this technology, the sensor is able to automatically switch between three different lighting modes, depending on the available light present in the environment.

  • In a well-lit environment, the pixel size on the sensor is kept at 0,56 microns (µm), attributing analysis to 200MP.
  • In a medium light environment, the pixel size is converted to 1,12 microns (µm), attributing analysis to 50MP.
  • On the contrary, in an environment where we have low light, 16 pixels are combined at the same time, so as to create pixels that have a size of 2,24 micron (μm) attributing analysis to 12,5MP.

It also supports the HDR in 4K and FHD mode and can pull 8K video at 30 fps, and according to Samsung, depending on the download environment, the Staggered HDR, captures the shadows and highlights in a scene in three different exposures: low, medium and high. It will then combine these three photos with a different exposure to produce higher quality HDR photos and videos.

In addition, Samsung's new sensor is capable of rendering the image in more than 4 trillion colors (14-bit color depth), which is 64 times more than the 68 billion colors rendered by the previous one ISOCELL HP3 200MP sensor (with 12-bit color depth).
