The first Xiaomi Smartphone to have the Memory Extensions is RedMi Note 10 Pro, which receives a new update to MIUI that activates this RAM expansion feature.
ΘYou probably remember some references to a special function called Memory Extensions which was found in its code MIUI.
This new feature will freeze a portion of the internal storage as well virtual RAM, which will help in multitasking as well as allow applications to stay in memory longer.
The screenshot below shows what this feature will use 1GB from the internal storage space like RAM and states that users should enable it when there is sufficient storage space.
Although this feature is new to Xiaomi, other companies such as Vivo and OPPO they already have it on their own smartphones. For example, the Vivo X60 Pro More, binds 3GB of indoor storage for use as virtual RAM which raises the total available capacity RAM by 12GB in 15GB. This feature will also be available in the upcoming Vivo V21.
But now the first device to have Memory Extension enabled is the RedMi Note 10 Pro, which receives a new update to MIUI that activates this feature, and allows you to add additional 2GB as RAM, binding it from the inside of the device when you need it.
This new update is currently available via OTA only for the Chinese versions of the devices, and a little later it will be available for the Global versions of the RedMi Note 10 Pro.
So now, and depending on the RAM configuration of your device - either 6 or 8 GB, you will be able to "upgrade" it to 8 GB or 10 GB respectively.
This also means that very soon, the new function Memory Extensions will soon be available on many other Xiaomi Smartphones.

RedMi Note 10 Pro and Pro Max
Both devices are equipped with AMOLED screen 6,67 inches Full HD + with a renewal rate of 120Hz, touch sampling rate at 240Hz, brightness up to 1200 nits and protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Inside the tiny 2,96 mm hole in the center of the top of the screen is a Selfie camera at 16 megapixels. Both phones are powered by Snapdragon 732G with up to 8 GB RAM, and are running MIUI 12 based on Android 11 with and will soon receive the update in MIUI 12.5.
The Notes 10 Pro Max has a main camera with sensor on 108MP (1 / 1.52 ″) Samsung HM2with ISOCELL Plus and Smart ISO, while the Notes redmi 10 Pro has a main camera with sensor on 64MP (Samsung ISOCELL GW3) .
The other three cameras are the same on both devices, and consist of a wide-angle lens on the 8MP, a depth sensor in 2MP and one Tele Macro camera in 5MP with 2x optical zoom.
Both Smartphones share the rest of their specifications, which include a side-by-side fingerprint scanner and come with a new design with a glass back with a finish in Aqua Green and Frost White. They also have Z-axis linear vibration motors, certification IP52 for water resistance, stereo speakers and powered by a large battery at 5020mAh with fast charging in 33w.
