ΣAccording to the HTC earnings report for the second quarter of 2018, HTC revenue for the second quarter was 6.774 billion Taiwan dollars (about 1.504 billion yuan), 58% down from the previous year, and the net loss was Taiwan $ 2.09 billion (about 464 million yuan). This also shows the continuous loss of HTC revenue for more than ten quarters.
In August this year, HTC Revenue was Taiwan $ 1.388 billion (equivalent to 308 million yuan), a fairly large drop of 77% compared to the previous year. This is HTC's worst monthly income since September 2003.
At the same time, following the 15% global layoffs in 2015 and the sale of mobile phone makers to Google, it was announced in July this year that 1.500 Taiwanese construction workers would be laid off to transform the company.
In addition to smartphones, HTC has also entered the field of VR and launched the HTC Vive, a virtual reality device that fits in the head. This is also considered a product launched by HTC. HTC founder and president Wang Xuehong also said that HTC's main strategy is AR / VR.
Hopes for the company are not lost but HTC needs to start making some good decisions as it is impossible for the company to remain intact if revenue does not increase as long as costs remain out of control.
