ΣAlmost 9 out of 10 Greeks connect to the internet every day, devoting several hours a day and more specifically about 3,5 hours out of 24, according to a survey by Focus Bari.

In fact, Greeks prove to be fans of mobile internet, since 75% "surf" the internet from their mobile phone, with 30% browsing the internet from their mobile phone for at least 1 hour a day. Also, according to the survey, 56% of Greeks go to social media every day. In fact, this percentage is increased by 17% compared to last year.

According to the findings of the research, the use of the internet is supported by the increasing penetration of smartphones in the daily life of Greeks, as 80% are smartphone owners. According to the research, the penetration of smartphones is overwhelming in the ages from 13 to 17 years, as 99% of people in this age group own a smartphone, while in the ages of 18 to 24 years the possession of a "smart" mobile phone amounts to 98% .

The percentages remain high in the older age groups of Greek consumers.

The penetration of the Internet in Greek everyday life is also great, as 2.963.000 households have access to the Internet. In fact, in Athens and Thessaloniki the percentage of households with internet access is 87% and 84% respectively.

Another global trend that also applies in Greece, is the use of applications, as 72% use an app on their mobile phone. The most popular apps among Greek users are those related to communication, such as Viber, Messenger or Skype with a percentage of 54%, followed by social media applications (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) with a percentage of 53%. In the third place of the preferences of the Greek users of the apps are the music and video applications (Youtube, Spotify) with a percentage of 39%, followed by the maps and movement applications with 36%.

The percentages of Greeks who use pay-TV services are also consistently high, reaching 32%. Especially in households with more members, the rates of use of pay-TV are increasing. For example, in households with three members the percentage is 37% and in those with four members it is 40%. At the same time, Greeks are proving to be fans of Netflix, which has tripled its subscribers in the last year, numbering 200.000 subscribers.

New research confirms another global trend, which wants citizens to be connected to technology almost from the cradle. Thus, 3 in 4 children aged 5 to 12 years are connected to the internet via smartphone or tablet, while 1 in 6 children aged 6 to 12 years have their own mobile phone.
