In a rather sudden turn of events, Oppo is reportedly pulling out of several European markets, including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France

The original news came from the Chinese website 36 Krypton, who shared the details about her impending departure Oppo by United Kingdom and Germany. The news was confirmed a little later by some industry insiders such as Snoopy Tech and Max jambor, who also claimed that the OnePlus will follow her Oppo, and will also withdraw from the aforementioned markets.

Since then, the OnePlus issued an official announcement where denies these reports for its exit from the European markets.

The decision behind Oppo's alleged exit from key European markets is likely the result of a series of patent infringements Nokia, dating from 2021. Nokia has filed multiple lawsuits against Oppo since July of 2021 and won the cases in two German courts, which led to the ban on sales of Oppo and OnePlus Smartphones in Germany.

After its legal success in Germany, Nokia took the next step and sued Oppo for patent infringement in Finland, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands and has also filed lawsuits in other European and Asian countries.

New statements that put an end to scenarios

Various media outlets have reached out to both companies to try to clarify the issue, and below are their responses:

  • OnePlus : the company assured that it will not leave the European Union and the United Kingdom, maintaining its stable operations in these markets. Furthermore, "OnePlus will continue to invest in Europe and provide innovative products and solutions for users."
  • OPPO: "The European market has always been one of our main markets. We are off to a good start in 2023 and our business in Europe aims to maintain the status quo.” Besides, they reminded that they recently introduced the Find N2 Flip in London and many other products at MWC 2023, so it wouldn't make sense for them to leave Europe. "THE OPPO will continue to focus on user needs and provide more innovative products and services."

Both official statements from the companies settle the issue and make it clear that neither OPPO nor OnePlus will leave Europe.
