Η MediaTek has released a new flagship SoC for TVs - the Pentonic 2000, which is made with 7 nm lithography technology.
Σaccording to MediaTek, there are currently more than 2 billion televisions worldwide, which are now equipped with its processors.
The new Pentonic 2000 SoC supports memory flash UFS 3.1, offers high speed connectivity as it is compatible with Wi-Fi 6E & 5G and supports the HDMI 2.1, etc. In addition, it will be one of the first SoCs in the world for TVs to support video encoding H.266 (VVC) which offers improved compression performance, in addition to AV1, HEVC, VP9, AVS3 encoding.
The new chip will also have a built-in new Artificial Intelligence Chip (AI Engine) that will support automatic scene recognition second generation, but also object recognition, which means it will be equipped with completely new image quality optimization technology and the result will be much better than the previous generation SoCs.
Its new processor Mediatek not only supports 8K screens with refresh rate at 120Hz, but can even Gaming screens in 144Hz and all state-of-the-art game consoles.
There is still support for technology MediaTek Intelligent View which allows multiple image monitors in one image (PiP) or image to image (PbP), but also supports its latest imaging and audio technologies Dolby, to provide a true cinematic experience through Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
This year's series Xiaomi TV 6, is equipped with the current top TV SOC by MediaTek and its price is also very attractive. It is reported that the first Smart TV to be equipped with this new Mediatek Pentonic 2000 SoC, is expected to be released during second quarter of 2022, and maybe the Xiaomi be again the first manufacturer to announce new next generation flagships in 8K resolution TVs with this SoC.
