They made their appearance on the internet several measurements of the Intel Core i9-12900K “Alder Lake” processor on Ashes of The Singularity Benchmark.
Πeven though AOTS is an old metro game, The Core i9-12900K seems to be faster than all the existing flagships of both Intel and AMD.
There were at least 21 entries detected by benchleaks and all display the Intel Core i9-12900K along with 64 GB of memory. Since this metric is a bit old by today's standards, it is not able to identify the correct number of cores / threads for the Alder Lake processor, which has 16 cores and 24 threads, while AOTS lists 24 physical cores and 24 logical cores.The i9-12900K was combined with a GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card (without knowing if it was overclocked or not).
The only measurement that makes sense for comparison to this data is the CPU frame rate and this is what we will focus on.
With the same High (1440p) default, the Intel Core i9-12900K achieves an average of 146,6 FPS, while the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X system with 4 GB DDR64 memory and RTX 3080 reaches 104,6 FPS.
The reason for using these two benchmarks for comparison is that all reference defaults including the version match.
These measurements show that Intel's upcoming flagship 40% ahead of AMD Ryzen 9 5950X. It seems, then, that Core i9-12900K could end up being a great gaming chip, dethroning AMD, at least for the current generation Zen 3 that already counts 10 months on store shelves.
