ΔThere are many smartphones that have Face Unlock technology, with Apple Face ID being considered one of the most reliable methods. This is where the MediaTek and states that it has developed Face Unlock technology as secure as Face ID but much cheaper.
The function of unlocking smartphones with the use of the face has begun and is spreading even to economical smartphones, which, although they do not have the appropriate sensors for this function, use the selfie camera to unlock them. MediaTek claims to have an economical solution that is as reliable as Apple Face ID.
The technology developed by MediaTek is called "Active Stereo" and is compatible with Helio P60 and Helio P22 processors. More specifically, MediaTek's proposal operates through an infrared projector based on two sets of infrared lenses and the algorithm for face recognition through machine learning and depth-of-field technology.
The "Active Stereo Depth Engine" is already integrated in the Helio P60 and Helio P22 processors, used mainly for the bokeh effect and the beauty modes of the selfie camera. However, with the use of appropriate hardware it can be used to unlock devices but also to make money transactions through this technology to verify the identity of the user.
Finally, according to MediaTek, the infrared projector and sensors are made by Himax, while the software by Face ++, and we will have to wait until we see this technology in smartphones to see how safe and is reliable, according to what the company promises.

They say it well, but I do not get a mobile phone with MTK processor again, they do not give upgrades and they have minimal support in the community due to the lack of the necessary code.
