AMD unveils new Athlon processors based on Zen cores and the new generation Ryzen Pro

Η AMD today unveiled new Zen architecture processors coming to attack Intel's low-end product lines. New processors include the new Athlon with APUs that combine graphics and processing on a single chip.

The AMD Athlon 200GE with Radeon Vega 3 graphics has two cores / 4 threads and will be available for $ 55. The target is ordinary everyday computer users. The new Athlon comes with Zen architecture (1st generation) that we first saw from AMD in 2017. It can process 52% more instructions per clock than the previous generation and has made AMD more competitive than ever.

In addition, AMD also unveiled the AMD Athlon Pro 200GE also with two cores, which is aimed at businesses.

AMD has also announced three new Ryzen Pro models, which are again intended for business, thanks to various safety technologies, compared to the simple 2nd generation Ryzen. These include the 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 2600 and the 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 2700 and AMD Ryzen Pro 2700X.

All the new chips aim to allow the daily use of computers, from surfing the internet and editing to more advanced tasks, such as high-definition gaming for computers. The AMD Athlon 200GE offers up to 67% more graphics performance and up to 2 times more power efficiency, offering 84% faster types of high definition games than the competition, AMD said.

The company says AMD Pro processors are designed for businesses, bringing reliability, security and performance to meet today's demands.

Robert Hallock, AMD's senior marketing technical director, said in a video that the company retained the Athlon brand during the Ryzen era because it has a rich history with a variety of consumer and commercial customers.

"The reason we chose to go with the Athlon brand is because it is reliable," Hallock said. "It's about flexibility, reliability and performance."

Hallock also said that Zen has put AMD "back in the fight" in a variety of markets.
