Huawei P60 Series : All three variants of the series made official in China – coming to Europe on May 9

Huawei launched yesterday the new models of the P60 series, which are the company's top quality phones with top photo and video performance


The new P60 series of the Chinese tech giant includes a total of three devices: the base version of the P60 the most expensive model p60 pro, but also her version P60 Art.

Design & Display

In terms of dimensions, both versions are basically identical, although the Pro variant it is heavier in grams. From the front, the new devices have the classic look like any other Smartphone, but the design they have on the back is unique. The camera unit on the back is quite prominent thanks to the large main sensor housed between two other sensors.

The new design is also quite robust, with the series featuring back which is made of Kunlun glass for protection, and IP68 Rating certification for water and dust resistance. Along with these two models, there is also the model Huawei P60 Art which features a camera module that has a slightly different design.

In fact the camera unit looks like an island with its curved corners lacking geometric precision and symmetry. THE variant Art it also comes in two colors that change color depending on the angle the light hits them.

The Huawei P60, P60 Pro and P60 Art have exactly the same 6,67 inch OLED curved screen which supports high dynamic range photos and videos. Additionally, it supports adaptive refresh rate (LTPO) which can range from 1 to 120Hz, while simultaneously offering 29% reduction in energy consumption.

Smartphones are also equipped with the technology Huawei's X-True immersive display with certified by TUV Rheinland, and offer high screen-to-body ratio that reaches 93.1%.

Specifications & Features

The base model Huawei P60 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. This chipset only supports 4G networks and it is a whole generation behind the most modern phones of the new 5G generation. The  P60 Pro and P60 Art are slightly better as they feature the relatively newer Snapdragon 8 + Gen 1 SoC from Qualcomm, but this SoC is also locked with support only on 4G networks and not on 5G.

The P60 will be available in storage options at 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GBWhile P60 Pro will only offer the versions at 256 GB and 512 GB. On the other hand, the P60 Art will also have a variation on 512 GB and a variant on 1TB. The basic version of the P60 and the Pro model powered by a battery at 4.815mAh which supports fast charging on 88W, while version Art has a larger one battery at 5.100mAh but with the same charging rate at 88w.

The other specifications of the devices include the new second generation satellite communication that allows two-way SMS via satellites. In other words, users can not only receive messages but also send SMS via satellite connection. The company offers this possibility thanks to its latest breakthroughs in the satellite solutions integrated into the new flagship smartphones. All three models work with the HarmonyOS 3.1 the company's.

Cameras

Coming to perhaps the most important aspect of a P series smartphone which is the cameras, the base version of the P60 features a triple camera setup consisting of a Mrmain sensor at 48MP which has a provision RYYB pixels, variable aperture lens F / 1.4-4.0 and optical image stabilization (OIS). Along with the main sensor, the device also has one Extremely wide-angle lens at 13MP which also has a sensor RYYB and diaphragm F / 2.2.

The last sensor is also a sensor RYYB in 12MP which also features OIS and 5x optical zoom.

The first two sensors on the P60 Pro they are basically identical to the base version but the main difference is in the lens which has zoom capabilities. The Pro model has a much higher resolution at 48MP and a larger aperture for the periscope camera unit and optical image stabilization.

Coming to the range-topping variant – the Huawei P60 Art, this device has the same main sensor and zoom lens as the Pro model in the periscope camera, but the ultra-wide sensor is a higher resolution camera in 40MP. On the front Selfie camera, the entire P60 lineup features one sensor at 13MP which is placed under one punch hole in the center of the top of the screen.

Prices & Availability

Huawei has already started taking pre-orders for the P60 and P60 Pro, which are to be released on March 30, 2023 in China. While the P60 Pro Art will be released a little later on 7 April, and below we have the pricing of the devices:

Huawei P60

  • 128 GB - 4,488 yuan (~ $ 657)
  • 256 GB - 4,988 yuan (~ $ 730)
  • 512 GB - 5,988 yuan (~ $ 877)

Huawei P60 Pro

  • 256 GB - 6,988 yuan (~ $ 1,023)
  • 512 GB - 7,988 yuan (~ $ 1,170)

Huawei P60 Art

  • 512 GB - 8,988 yuan (~ $ 1,316)
  • 1TB - 10,988 yuan (~ $ 1,609)

The basic and Pro models are available in four color options in Black, Emerald, Purple and Marble White color , while the Art model is available in sea ​​blue and in Quicksand Gold.

As far as global availability of the devices, h Huawei has announced that the devices in the series will become available globally on 9 May 2023, at an event to be held at Munich, Germany. Pricing for the Global versions of the devices remains unknown as of now.
