Today it's his turn Huawei Mate 50 Pro to pass his evaluation DxOMark, for its performance in the field of photography and video

The Huawei Mate 50 Pro occupies the first place in the ranking of the list (Global) from DxOMark , leaving behind the Google Pixel 7 Pro which follows in second place.

Basic camera specifications:

  • Main camera: 50MP sensor, 24mm equivalent lens with f/1,4 – f/4,0 adjustable aperture, OIS
  • Ultra Wide Camera : 13MP sensor, 13mm f/2,2 equivalent aperture lens
  • Telephoto lens: 64MP sensor, 90mm f/3,5 equivalent lens, OIS

With overall camera rating DXOMARK 149, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro it now tops the ranking for camera, out of all other devices. It also achieved the best photography score to date, thanks to its excellent results in the exposure, focus and texture/noise categories.

The autofocus score is greatly improved by the new and innovative adjustable aperture, which allows the depth of field to be optimized in a scene. An adjustable aperture is particularly useful, for example, in group portraits. As smartphone image sensors have become larger, this has resulted in Smartphone cameras having a reduced depth of field, making it more difficult to keep all subjects in focus if they are not at the same focus plane.

Its system Huawei uses a built-in diaphragm that allows adjustment from f/1.4 to f/4.0, depending on the scene, and the camera can either prioritize light capture (in low light), maximize depth of field, or choose a more balanced setting between the two extremes.

The zoom quality is a strong point of the device, thanks to the combination of three camera units with algorithms super-resolution and fusion. The result is good detail retention from both the telephoto and UltraWide cameras. Overall, the Mate 50 Pro ranks second for the Zoom, just behind the Honor Magic4 Ultimate, which offers slightly better detail at the telephoto.

In terms of video, the Mate 50 Pro was tested at 4K resolution and 30 frames per second, with the feature enabled Vivid HDR. It Vivid HDR is a new video format HDR and is already supported by phones and some TVs.

Overall, the Mate 50 Pro it wasn't as great in video as it was for stills and ranked at 7th position, lower than its direct rivals, which are the Google Pixel 7 Pro and the latest Apple iPhone.

Exposure was the device's biggest asset in video, with accurate target exposure and wide dynamic range in bright light and indoors. However, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro it lagged somewhat in terms of texture/noise compromise, especially in low light.

  • Innovative variable aperture system ideal for taking group portraits and photos in low light conditions
