Huami's Amazfit Verge makes its US debut

ΌWhen the Amazfit Verge was announced in China a few months ago, with features like Voice Assistant, we all wondered how Huami intends to adapt these smartwatch features to the global market, given that most of the features have been adapted to to suit Chinese users.

Apparently, the Xiaomi-backed company was busy enriching the device with other languages. So indeed, Amazfit Verge has been released in the US, and is now available for pre-order at official online store of the company with a price of $ 159.99, and of course is higher than the price of 799 yuan (~ $ 116) when it started selling in China. The device will be released for the first time on December 18.

The Amazfit Verge packs a 1,3-inch circular display with a diameter of 43 mm. This screen is similar in size to the larger version of Samsung's latest Galaxy Watch. The Amazfit Verge is made of reinforced plastic, giving it a sporty feel, rather than the look of a traditional watch like the Samsung models. The Verge is equipped with an AMOLED display with a resolution of 360x360pixels as well as Gorilla Glass 3. Huami states that there is a special coating on the screen, which prevents the accumulation of fingerprint stains during use. The smartwatch is equipped with a silicone strap that can be removed in the same way as for the Amazfit Pace and Stratos. Most importantly, it is lightweight, and weighs just 46 grams.

The device comes with support for 11 different modes of measurement of sports activities such as golf, horse riding, running, hiking, gymnastics, football and boat. It also has GPS + GLONASS support. In addition, the smartwatch is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 + BLE. Unfortunately, there is no LTE connection, but we believe it could come in later versions.

The watch is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM. Along with standard sensors, there are additional geomagnetic sensors and air pressure sensors. Also, a 390mAh battery is built in, which Huami claims can last up to 5 days, depending on usage.

The icing on the cake is definitely the voice assist technology for use in the smart home. The Verge focuses on the Internet of Things (IoT), smart home control, voice assistant and NFC for contactless payment. The smartwatch will also have Amazon Alexa support at the end of the year.
