Google: Will make 2SV verification mandatory to add an extra level of security

Η Google will soon make mandatory 2-step verification (2SV - XNUMX Step Verification) to all users who have an account on its services.

Σaccording to a new post that published today by Google on its official website, the 66% of Americans use the same password for many different websites.

The problem with this is that when a password is stolen or detected, it could allow hackers to access many of your applications, including your bank accounts.

And the irony is that the more complicated you make your password, the higher the chances of using the same password in many different applications.

However, even the strongest passwords can be stolen by an attacker, and for this reason the Google emphasizes that the best way to protect users is to add an extra level of authentication to verify their identity.

Today for those who are trying to sign in to a Google application and have signed up for the two-step verification process (2SV), h Google sends them a message they receive on their phones, and they should choose the correct answer in a window that opens that usually contains a small number for verification.

Soon, however, those with Google Accounts will be able to sign in automatically 2SV (two-step verification process) if their accounts are properly configured. As reported by Google...

The use of Smartphones to connect to various services and websites, will become even more secure with the new authentication from the traditional passwords used to date.

If you wish, from today you will be able to register in the two-step verification process (2SV) by clicking on this link and sign in to your Google Account. This will add an extra level of security, as you will need to enter a unique security code that will be sent to your phone.

This way, even if someone steals your password, they will not be able to access your account.

What you need to be aware of is that you will need to verify your identity a few seconds before you open a Google application, otherwise the code sent to you will expire, and you will need to be sent a new code. On the other hand, you will have an extra level of security, keeping your personal data protected from falling into the wrong hands.

With the Google Password Manager which is built into Android, iOS and ChromeOS, you can create complex passwords without even having to remember them. The new function Passport Import allows you to enter up to 1.000 passwords simultaneously from third-party applications in Password Manager, at no cost. This allows all your passwords to be protected by "advanced security and privacy technology”Held by Google.

Η Google has set a goal for the future to completely eliminate the need for passwords, and as the company states;

One day, we hope the stolen passwords will be a thing of the past, because the passwords themselves will be a thing of the past. But until that becomes possible, the Google will continue to keep both your data and the passwords you use secure.
