Η Google has been trying for a long time to restrict third party call recording applications to its operating system Android.

Αafter its release Android 6 Marshmallow, The company canceled all APIs which allowed developers to add the ability to record calls to their applications, and later with the release of Android 10, the company blocked all the solutions that the developers had used to activate the call recording function in their applications.

In addition, now the Google has completely turned off the microphone recording function, and this is essentially the final step in completely banning and deleting the use of all APIs that give access to Android for recording phone calls.

"Tthe accessibility API is not designed and can not be used to remotely record ringtones", He states Google on a support page documenting changes to the Developer Policy that will take effect from now on. This means that the operating system Google Android for mobile, will stop supporting call recording in Android apps from May 11.

It is worth noting that the built-in applications that exist in various Custom ROMs used by the manufacturers of Smartphones will not be directly affected by these changes. This means that the built-in call recording applications are available as part of the custom Android Skin offered by various companies such as Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi (MIUI) and Oppo will not be affected by this change.

It remains uncertain so far how Google implement this new policy. Google has not confirmed whether it will simply block the use of these applications that record calls to Smartphones or whether it will later require the developers of these applications to remove them from the Play Store when the date approaches (May 11).

Η Google also plans to introduce a new feature Self-Share on Android smartphones, which will allow users to share files with their devices using the feature Nearby Share of the company without the explicit permission required each time.
