The Street View Google Celebrates 15α his birthday with 15 stunning images from his collections, including three of the most popular places in the world

Τin 2007 we published his first pictures Street View by San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Miami and Denver. Since then, Street View cars equipped with cameras have been captured and shared with the public over 220 billion images!

To achieve them, they have traveled over 10 million miles The equivalent of having made the rounds of the world over 400 times! We have collected and projected images on the Street View platform through cultural landmarks, from space and below the oceans.

So to celebrate  Street View birthday We are currently sharing 15 amazing images from our collections - including three of the most popular places in the world, four new collections, and images of Street View that give us special emotions. So raise your glasses -or rather your… mice- to welcome the exploration of our world, together!

What did you explore and what new places to go?

From the many places and monuments that are at your disposal, we have singled out three points that caught your interest last year. So here are the three most popular sites to explore at Street View:

  • Burj Khalifa (Burj Khalifa), in the United Arab Emirates: For the tallest building in the world you can use Street View to explore the view from the ground floor up to 154ο floor!
  • Eiffel Tower (France): If you have not had the opportunity to visit it or you are missing pieces of the view it offers, Street View allows you to see the "Iron Lady" in all its glory, as well as get a taste of Parisian charm from the top.
  • Taj Mahal (India): Although Street View is not yet operational in the country, you can explore a wonderful collection of images from this unique monument.

As for your next Street View tours, here are four new collections that we believe will become your favorites.

  • The Pyramids of Meroe in Sudan: Thanks to the panoramic images, you can explore the ancient pyramids that house the tombs of kings and queens of the Kushite dynasty.
  • The Duomo, in Milan: It is the largest cathedral in Italy and the third largest in Europe - not forgetting that it offers perhaps the best views of the city of Milan. We have been working with Google Arts & Culture since 2019, uploading images of the Duomo in Street View so that everyone can have a behind-the-scenes look at this architectural and cultural gem - and even live!
  • Les Invalides in Paris: Before the Eiffel Tower was erected, the golden dome of the Les Invalides monument was the highest point in Paris. Today, new images from the historic hotel of the same name allow you to explore its museums and monuments and learn more about French military history through a virtual tour.
  • Sydney Ferries, Australia: emblematic boats will soon be maintained in digital form as a result of our partnership with New South Wales Transport Services. Later in the year we will upload this collection to Street View, so that people can take a virtual tour of these boats to enjoy the journey around Sydney's only harbor.
