The first typewriter was built in the United States in 1868 by Christopher Sholes Latham and included a mobile inkjet machine, a paper-twisting lever, and an alphabetic keyboard.
From the beginning, however, the typewriters presented many problems, because they constantly blocked the letters and "stuck", due to the high speed of the secretaries. The only solution to this problem was to slow down the typewriters so that the keys would not get stuck. It is characteristic, in fact, that the problem was mainly presented by the first letters of the Alphabet. Latham then thought that one solution was: He had to confuse the secretaries by shuffling the letters on the keyboard!
That's it! His thinking was ει magnificent and its success was captured very quickly and in practice, proving that in the end… confusion had an effect. The speed of the secretaries decreased significantly, since in order to form a word they had to "travel" a longer distance with their fingers on the keyboard, but also to look for the letters a little more! Και -ω! of the miracle - the "sticks" in the letters have disappeared! The success of the "QUERTY" keyboard continues to this day…
