The new Frequency Map is the main regulatory text in order for the National Telecommunications & Post Commission to proceed with the auction of the band in the 700 MHz band for the development of the new 5G networks in our country. The new Frequency Map is directly linked to the creation of a favorable environment for the development of electronic communications networks and services.
What procedures needed to be completed to complete the new Frequency Map?
The formulation of the new Frequency Charter is the result of a complex legal and technical process, in the framework of which were required, among others:
Consult digital terrestrial broadcasting network providers to ensure the smooth operation of digital terrestrial television.
Implementation of a relevant study of the National Technical University of Athens, which provided consulting services to the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Posts of the Ministry of Digital Government, regarding the structure of the terrestrial digital television broadcasting networks.
Opinion of the National Telecommunications & Post Commission
Amendment of the National Frequency Allocation Regulation in order to ensure the smooth operation of the communication systems used by the armed forces
Greece's bilateral and multilateral agreements with neighboring countries in order to ensure the smooth operation of the networks after the activation of the new Frequency Map.
What should the citizen do after the publication of the new Frequency Map? Do I need to get new equipment?
With the publication of the new Frequency Map, the transmission frequencies of digital terrestrial television are redistributed. In practice this means that citizens will only need to do a reset of their TV set.
This process will only need to be done once, once the settings included in the new Frequency Map are activated. It goes without saying that there will be timely information to the citizens
