Its global elements Ericsson reveal that Ms.mobile data traffic he's got increased almost 300 times since 2011, the year the report was first published "Ericsson Mobility Report».

ΤThe results, which are based on current as well as historical data of the networks, are included in the special edition of the decade report "Ericsson Mobility Report November 2021, Which takes a look at some of the key trends and events that have shaped the last decade and reveals the latest forecasts by looking at 2027.

The assumption that the 5G is the fastest growing generation of mobile communications to date, boosted by an updated estimate of almost 660 million 5G subscriptions by the end of this year. This increase is due to higher than expected demand in China and North America, which in turn is due in part to the ever-decreasing prices of 5G devices. Also, the third quarter of 2021, there was a clear addition 98 million 5G subscriptions worldwide, compare to 48 million new 4G subscriptions. At the end of 2021, it is estimated that 5G networks will cover more than two billion people.

According to the latest forecasts, 5G is going to become the dominant subscription-based mobile access technology in the world by 2027. 5G is also expected to represent approximately 50% of all mobile subscriptions worldwide Covering it 75% of the world's population and carrying it 62% of global smartphone traffic by 2027.

Ο Fredrik Jejdling, Executive Vice President and Ericsson Head of Networks, stated:

Mobile communications have had an incredible impact on society and business over the last ten years. Looking ahead, in 2027, mobile networks will be more integral than ever to the way we interact, live and work. Our latest report "Ericsson Mobility ReportShows that the pace of change is accelerating, with technology playing a key role.

Since 2011, the development of 4G LTE networks was crucial to the creation 5,5 billion new connections smartphones worldwide, helping to market more than 20.000 different models of 4G devices. This report shows a much earlier technological life cycle of 5G devices, with 5G mobiles already representing 23% of the total global number of mobile phones, compared to just 8% of 4G mobiles at the corresponding point in their life cycle.

This contributes to the exponential increase in data traffic through mobile communications, which increased by 42% in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter last year. This corresponds to approx 78 exabytes (EB) of data, including traffic generated by Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services. During the third quarter alone, mobile data traffic was higher than the total traffic ever generated by the end of 3. New forecasts reveal that total data traffic on mobile networks is likely to reach 370 EB by the end of 2027.

The report also reveals that the nature of mobile communications is changing rapidly, contributing to the continued increase in mobile data traffic.

The broadband IoT has now surpassed the 2G / 3G as the market segment that accounts for the largest share of IoT applications. In fact, it is expected to represent the 47% all IoT connections via mobile communications by the end of 2021, compared to 37% for 2G / 3G and 16% for technologies Massive IoT (NB-IoT and Cat-M).

The new forecasts confirm the rapid acceleration of connection implementation massive IoT in the coming years, which will cover a wide range of use cases, such as e.g. Mobile Devices e-health, supply chain asset tracking, environmental tracking and smart meters, as well as smart industrial production recording and tracking devices. The links massive IoT provided to represent the 51% of all IoT connections via mobile communications to 2027.

During the same period, the connections Fixed Wireless Access - FWA, estimated to triple - by 88 million by the end of 2021, are expected to arrive approximately 230 million in 2027, while almost half of these connections are expected to be transmitted through 5G networks.
