ΤThe latest data from the screen market show that people are increasingly turning to screens that support high refresh rates. Curved screens also tend to be the first choice for those who want to buy a screen for gaming.
These data come from WitsView, a division of TrendForce that deals specifically with the market of monitors. These data show that the screens with high refresh rates, from 100Hz and above, which are aimed mainly at those who are very busy with games (gaming monitors), managed to double their sales, with estimates talking about sales of 5,1 millions of screens in 2018. This increase in gaming monitors shows that the gaming market continues to grow. The need to replace older screens in Internet cafes with new, very high rate of renewal which are able to meet the needs of new popular games such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has also played a role in this.
Benefiting from this increase in gaming screen sales, it is primarily ASUS and Acer which have maintained the first and second place respectively in the list of manufacturers with the most sales. In the other places we had changes this year due to the entry into the market of other companies, since the gaming screens offer high profit margins. In the table below you can see how the line of manufacturers is expected to be shaped this year compared to last year.
Another interesting element is the preference of the buying public for the curved screens for gaming. Curved gaming screens exceeded 50% in 2018 of the entire gaming monitors market, with gamers seeming to prefer them over flat screens.
