The program for the television coverage in 936 areas without signal with state subsidy is implemented. What are the areas and how can households apply?
Λproblem in thousands of households in 936 "White areas" of the country from Corinth to the outlying areas gives its program Ministry of Digital Governance, where through Cosmote and Digea will acquire a TV signal to watch the program of the Greek channels.
His program Ministry of Digital Reform height 30,87 million which will last until 2028, will provide the possibility of a subsidy of 150 euros to each household for the purchase of technological equipment, and will also be given an 8-year guarantee. The cost of the eight-year grant will come from the Public Investment Program and EETT. TV stations, both public and private, are required to provide their programs free of charge to all providers participating in the universal coverage program.
The application platform is open at gov.gr for those interested who until now did not have access to the television programs of the Greek stations, with the application to be submitted for 15 calendar days every four months, with the first submission deadline ending on 15 June.
The problem of white areas affects more than 160.000 households and arose from the 2014 when the Digea took over the digital coverage of the country, however having the obligation to cover the population and not geographically the 95% of the country, as in 2013 the ERT which was the only broadcaster to provide almost 99% population coverage.
The 2018, the SYRIZA government wanted to provide a solution by subsidizing households to obtain a television signal through pay-TV or free-to-air television, with only the Cosmote and Digea to participate in the program. With the new regulations brought by the Minister of Digital Government K. Pierrakakis, the global coverage project will be extended until 2028 where both network providers and electronic communications providers using other networks will be able to participate.
Application process
The application is submitted on the initiative of the interested party either electronically by him through a relevant application of the Unified Digital Portal of the State, gov.gr, or through the authorized users of K.E.P.
Those interested can apply for:
- terrestrial broadcasting
- satellite broadcaster
- fixed or mobile broadband internet connection
The following apply to the above:
- provision and installation of the necessary broadband equipment where required
- 8 years of access to national and local programs
- 8 years equipment warranty and installation when required
- free choice of provider
To submit the application the beneficiary will need:
- Taxisnet personal passwords,
- the number of electricity supply of the permanent residence,
- the email address,
- landline and mobile phone numbers,
- the eleven-digit number of electricity supply to his main and permanent residence,
- the settlement in which the permanent residence is located.
Interested parties should to state the provider of their choice and the brand name of the service package of their choice, in case the provider has configured more than one service package. They must also state the alternative provider and the brand name of the services they want to acquire.
It is noted that the subsidy concerns households and not to individual beneficiaries or companies and concerns exclusively the property declared in the application. The amount of the grant is given directly to the provider chosen by the beneficiaries after their authorization. An application can also be submitted by those household beneficiaries who want to correct incorrect data from an earlier application under the action.
