Cosmote: Over 3 million households and businesses with access to fiber optic speeds

Ξover 3 million households and businesses have access to very high speed internet up to 200Mbps and advanced broadband services. Thanks to the extensive investment plan implemented by the OTE Group, amounting to € 2 billion by 2022, COSMOTE Fiber, the largest fiber optic network in the country, continued to grow dynamically throughout Greece in 2018.

According to the relevant press release, during the year, 2.000 new FTTC cabins were added to the COSMOTE Fiber optical fiber network. In total, the commercially available FTTC cabins amounted to 13.600. In addition, 3.500 cabins were technologically upgraded, resulting in a total of 11.500 offering speeds up to 200Mbps through VDSL Vectoring & VDSL Super Vectoring.

In addition, in 2018, the OTE Group brought the optical fiber to the customer's home, having a commercial network Fiber To The Home (FTTH), the most advanced technological infrastructure for Internet access with 100% guaranteed speeds. Today, the Group has the largest Fiber To The Home coverage in the country, as 100Mbps and 200Mbps speeds with 100% fiber optics are already available in 22.000 households and businesses. Recently, areas of the Municipality of Papagou-Holargos gained access to Fiber To The Home.

Those who wish to enjoy the unsurpassed speeds of fiber optics at home, can receive a special grant of a total of € 360, through the Superfast Broadband action of the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Information. The action is implemented with the voucher method, which subsidizes the fixed fee of the COSMOTE Double Play Fiberspeed program with 13 € / month, for a maximum period of 24 months and the one-time connection cost with 48 €.
